This policy explains what personal data horseshows.in collects, why, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000. The site is operated by Abdul Rahman Shariff (the "Data Fiduciary"), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
1. The short version
- You can browse the whole site without giving us any personal data.
- We only collect personal data when you choose to submit a show or contact us.
- Your contact details are used to verify and update your listing. They are never shown on the site, never sold, and never used for unrelated marketing.
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
2. What we collect and why
a) When you submit a show (“List your show” form)
Data: your name, phone/WhatsApp number, email (optional), the organisation you represent, and event details you provide.
Purpose: to verify that the event is real, contact you about the listing, publish the event details, and keep them up to date.
Legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the consent box on the form (Section 6, DPDP Act).
Event details (name, dates, venue, organiser name, disciplines) are published publicly. Your personal contact details are not.
b) When you email us
If you email us, we receive the details you share (such as your name and email address) and use them only to reply and handle your request.
c) Technical data
Like any website, our hosting provider automatically processes basic technical information (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We do not use it to identify you.
3. Cookies
horseshows.in does not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. Our admin page stores a sign-in value in your browser's session storage, for the site owner only; it is cleared when the browser tab closes. If we add analytics in future (for example Google Analytics), we will update this policy first and, where required, ask for your consent.
Some pages embed third-party content, such as an organiser's Google Form for show entries. When you use such an embed, that provider (e.g. Google) may set its own cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy. Data you enter into an organiser's form goes to that organiser, not to us.
4. Who processes your data
We use trusted service providers (“Data Processors”) only to run the site:
- Supabase: database hosting; our data is stored in its Mumbai, India region.
- Vercel: website hosting and delivery (servers may be located outside India).
- Our email provider: to receive and answer emails you send us.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We disclose it only if required by law or a lawful order of a government authority.
5. How long we keep it
We keep submitters' contact details while the listing is active and for up to 24 months after the event ends, so we can update future editions. After that, or earlier if you ask us or withdraw consent, we delete or anonymise them. Public event details may remain in our archive of past shows.
6. How we protect it
Our database is closed to the public: the website can only read published event details and add new submissions, and all administrative access is password-protected. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure; if a personal data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Act requires.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can:
- access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
- correct, complete or update it;
- erase it, or withdraw your consent at any time; this won't affect processing already done, but we will stop using your data and remove your contact details;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated;
- raise a grievance with us, and if you are not satisfied with our response, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any right, contact our Grievance Officer below. We respond within the time limits set by law, and aim to do so within 7 days.
8. Children
The site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Show submissions must be made by an adult. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes here and update the effective date. If changes are significant, we will highlight them on the site.
